The volunteer office at Capital Hospice in Arlington now carries a meaningful new name, one that reflects both gratitude and deep admiration. It has been officially dedicated in honor of Marilyn S. Broad, an ExxonMobil executive who spent her final weeks surrounded by the care and comfort of the hospice team.

Broad, formerly ExxonMobil’s director of human resources for the Pacific Rim, passed away from cancer in July 2002 at the age of 57. In the years since, the Marilyn S. Broad Foundation has become one of Capital Hospice’s most generous supporters, continuing her legacy of compassion and community impact.

“We appreciate the continuing support we’ve received from the foundation over the years, including a $30,000 gift this year in honor of Capital Hospice’s 30th anniversary,” shared Malene Davis, president and CEO of Capital Hospice.

Family and friends gathered for the renaming ceremony, reflecting on Broad’s experience and the comfort she found in her final days. Dr. Allan Serviss spoke on behalf of the family, expressing heartfelt appreciation: “The hospice was a wonderful place for Marilyn. We are so grateful for the care.”

The dedication stands as a reminder of how one person’s life, and the love of those who carry her memory forward, can make a lasting difference.
